Embark on a six-week session adventure -or choose-one day, two day, three day of your choice! (Look below for list of theme for that week and write in note box your theme and week choice) with Whidbey Forest Friends! This exciting summer camp for 5–10 year-olds takes place at a different park each Thursday from 10-2pm. We'll dive into nature through creative art projects using natural materials, explore trails with short engaging hikes, and play fun nature themed games. Discover the wonders of the beach, forest, meadows and more! Each week features a new theme, from beach treasures to forest fairies, ensuring a summer of learning and outdoor excitement. Get ready to explore, create, and connect with nature! Locations will be in Clinton, Freeland, Langley, Greenbank, Coupeville. When you sign up you will get complete details before start of class. Week 1: Coastal ecosystems and Beach Art *Scavenger hunt for beautiful natural beach treasures *Driftwood Creatures and Beach Mandalas using driftwood, shells and rocks to create sculptures and detailed works of art in the sand. *Beach walk to identify types of shells, seaweed and marine life Week 2: Theme- Forest Habitats and Woodland crafts *Forest Fairies & Gnome Homes- building miniature homes using natural materials found in the forest *Hike focused on identifying different types of trees, and signs of forest animals and Tree bark rubbings to explore different types of trees Week 3: Theme Wildflower wonders-pollinators and plant life *Pressed flower Art and Nature Journals- pressing wildflowers and creating collages and nature journal entries *Walk through a wildflower meadow and run, jump and twirl while identifying flowers Week 4: Theme Birdsong and nests- * Nest building challenge: Bird nest building and feather art. Create miniature bird nests using found materials and make birds out of recycled materials to sit in the nests. *Talk about different birds and look for them and identify them Week 5: Theme Bugs and things that fly *Clay bug sculptures and leaf rubbings *Walk with magnifying glasses to observe insects and look up close at plant life Week 6: Theme: Collaborative Art *Paint a mural together and add some nature found on the hike *Talk about memories from the last 5 weeks and add some thoughts or words or a poem onto the mural
